Childs Family Chiropractic provides chiropractic treatment to people of all ages. From babies to the elderly, including sports and pre-natal, every stage of life can benefit from chiropractic care. We are pro-active in treatment, working on the root of the issue, to help patients achieve their health goals.

One of the most common therapeutic procedures performed by chiropractors is spinal manipulation, often referred to as “an adjustment”. The purpose of an adjustment is to restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become restricted in their movement as a result of a tissue injury. This can be caused by traumatic events, such as improper lifting, or through repetitive stresses, such as poor spinal posture. Injured tissues undergo physical and chemical changes that can cause inflammation, pain, and diminished function for an individual. Adjustments help restore mobility, thereby alleviating pain and muscle tightness, allowing tissues to heal.

We provide chiropractic adjustments to people of all ages, specializing in:

Infant/Early Childhood

infancy and childhood are an impressionable time of rapid growth and development of the spine and nervous system. It is common for newborns to have a misalignment in their cervical spine (especially the first vertebra, C1) and often the pelvis too. If left untreated, there is greater risk of abnormal curvature of the spine (idiopathic scoliosis) later in life. Chiropractic care can benefit infants to help with:

  • breastfeeding problems
  • colic
  • digestive problems
  • allergies
  • sleep problems
  • colds or ear infections

We recommend parents bring infants for an assessment within the first 2 weeks of birth, unless there is an immediate problem such as issues with breastfeeding.

Other milestones for adjustment include when babies first hold their head up (cervical curve develops at this time), and when they first sit, crawl and walk. Chiropractic care throughout early childhood can help at the first signs of colds ear infections, when children are not sleeping well, if they have had a fall or after especially rough play, issues with bed wetting, or are experiencing physical developmental delays.

Chiropractic care is an excellent choice when looking for noninvasive, drug-free approach for many children and families.

Chiropractic care can help undo the punishment the body takes in today’s sport activities. When the spine is out of alignment, the resulting vertebral subluxations can create focal areas of irritation in the nervous system, which can interfere with the functions of all other systems. This can result in poor performance. A misalignment in the spinal column can also place an abnormal amount of stress and strain on joints, muscles, nerves, discs and ligaments.
Spinal adjustments will reduce the irritation of the nerve root between the vertebrae, and help shorten the healing time from minor injuries, improving performance.

Headaches, shoulder pain, ankle injuries, and injury prevention are all treatable with chiropractic care.

Chiropractic care during pregnancy can provide many benefits, including:

  • Maintaining a healthier pregnancy
  • Controlling symptoms of nausea
  • Reducing the time of labor and delivery
  • Relieving back, neck or joint pain

The following changes from pregnancy can result in a misaligned spine or joints:

  • Protruding abdomen and increased back curve
  • Pelvic changes
  • Postural adaptations

Establishing pelvic balance and alignment is an important reason to seek chiropractic care during pregnancy. When the pelvis is misaligned it may reduce the amount of room available for the developing baby. It may also make it difficult for the baby to get into the best possible position for delivery.
